Senior Safety Lead

At TWD Technologies, we are seeking a highly motivated Senior Safety Leader for our client in Hamilton, ON.

General
  • Champion for health and safety on various construction sites.
  • Monitor the execution of planned construction scope to ensure project H&S goals are met.
  • Maintain open and clear communication with all project participants.
Health & Safety (Self)
  • Responsible for own health and safety.
  • Review toolbox talks as circulated. Be aware of all changing site conditions.
  • Stop, challenge, and choose — if seeing a dangerous act posing an immediate threat, stop the worker. Otherwise, communicate issues to contractor supervision or AMD’s contract lead.
Health & Safety (Project)
  • Understand the construction scope of work and its implications for H&S.
  • Monitor multiple site activities to ensure compliance with OHSA Act, Construction Regulations, and AMD’s Third-Party H&S Program.
  • Develop and reinforce a ‘Zero Accident’ philosophy with all parties on site. Maintain regular presence on the construction site.
  • Interpret applicable health and safety legislation and AMD’s Third-Party H&S Program.
  • Develop monthly reports on site H&S performance and issues for the Project Manager and Construction Manager.
  • Report safety performance of each contractor on site and follow up with their leadership as needed.
  • Participate in risk management activities for construction and commissioning health and safety.
  • Lead or participate in risk analysis (HIRA), safety meetings, site safety audits, accident investigations, and root cause analyses.
  • Attend and facilitate safety meetings, permit meetings, and special procedures meetings (e.g., confined space, hot work).
  • Report violations of AMD’s H&S Program for corrective action.
  • Conduct safety meetings and develop toolbox talks as required.
Meetings (as required)
  • Lead weekly H&S meetings and issue minutes.
  • Attend JH&SC meetings as AMD representative.
  • Participate in daily construction meetings and weekly coordination meetings.
  • Conduct Safe Work Permit Meetings and facilitate HIRA and Root Cause Analysis sessions.
Qualifications / Experience
  • In-depth knowledge of and experience with the Ontario Health and Safety Act and Construction Regulations.
  • CRSP or NCSO certification.
  • 7-10 years of construction experience.
  • Experience with health and safety programs (e.g., Coirty, Cognibox).
  • Experience conducting accident investigations and root cause analyses.
