At TWD Technologies, we are seeking a highly motivated Senior Safety Leader for our client in Hamilton, ON.

General

  1. Champion for Health and Safety on the various construction sites.
  2. Monitor the execution of planned construction scope to ensure that our client project goals for H&S are met.
  3. Maintain open and clear communication with all project participants.
Health & Safety (self)
  1. Responsible for own health and safety.
  2. Reviews toolbox talks as they are circulated. Is aware of all changing site conditions.
  3. Stop. Challenge. Choose – If sees a dangerous act that poses an immediate threat, stops the worker. Otherwise, communicates these issues to contractor supervision or AMD’s contract lead.
Health & Safety (project)
  1. Is knowledgeable about the construction scope of work, and implications for H&S.
  2. Monitors multiple site activities to ensure compliance with OHSA Act, Construction Regulations, and the AMD Third Party H&S program.
  3. Develops, fosters, and reinforces a ‘Zero Accident’ philosophy with all parties on site. Maintains a regular presence on the construction site.
  4. Interprets applicable Health and Safety legislation and AMD’s Third-Party H&S Program.
  5. Develops formal monthly reports on site H&S performance and issues to the Project Manager and Construction Manager.
  6. Compiles and reports on safety performance of each contractor on site. Follows up with contractor’s leadership as required.
  7. Participates in Risk Management activities for Construction Health & Safety.
  8. Participates in Risk Management activities for Commissioning and Start up Health and Safety.
  9. Leads or participates in risk analysis, (HIRA) as required.
  10. Leads and/or participates in weekly safety meetings and daily site safety audits.
  11. Leads or participates in accident investigations and RCAs.
  12. Leads or attends Safe Work Permit Meetings to provide relevant safety input and expertise.
  13. Participates in meetings relating to special procedures or work, i.e., confined space entry, engineered lifts, roof access, hot work, etc., to provide relevant safety input and expertise.
  14. Reports to Project Manager any observed violations to AMD’s Health & Safety Program so timely corrective action can be taken.
  15. Conducts monthly project team safety meeting (if required)
  16. Participates in the development of Toolbox talks.

Meetings (as required on a project-by-project basis)
  1. Runs weekly H&S meetings, and issues meeting minutes.
  2. Attends JH&SC meetings as AMD representative.
  3. Attend daily construction meetings.
  4. Attend weekly construction coordination meeting.
  5. Conducts Safe Work Permit Meetings
  6. Facilitates HIRA’s
  7. Facilitates Root Cause Analysis

Qualifications / experience

  1. Detailed knowledge of and experience in the interpretation and application of the Ontario Health and Safety Act and the Construction Regulations
  2. CRSP or NCSO certification.
  3. 7-10 years of Construction experience
  4. Experience with Health and Safety programs (Coirty, Cognibox etc.)
  5. Experience conducting Accident Investigations and Root Cause Analysis
