Senior Safety Lead

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Safety Leader for our client in Hamilton, ON.

Responsibilities
  • Champion health and safety on various construction sites.
  • Monitor the execution of construction scope to meet project H&S goals.
  • Maintain clear communication with all project participants.
Health & Safety (Self)
  • Responsible for personal health and safety.
  • Review toolbox talks and stay aware of site conditions.
  • Stop, challenge, and address dangerous acts posing immediate threats, or communicate issues to supervision.
Health & Safety (Project)
  • Understand construction scope and its H&S implications.
  • Monitor site activities for compliance with OHSA and AMD's H&S programs.
  • Promote a Zero Accident philosophy and maintain a regular site presence.
  • Interpret relevant legislation and programs.
  • Develop monthly safety reports for project management.
  • Report on contractor safety performance and follow up as needed.
  • Participate in risk management activities, including risk analysis (HIRA), safety meetings, audits, and accident investigations.
  • Attend and facilitate safety meetings and permit meetings.
  • Report violations and conduct safety talks as required.
Meetings
  • Lead weekly H&S meetings and record minutes.
  • Attend JH&SC, daily construction, and coordination meetings.
  • Facilitate HIRAs and root cause analyses.
Qualifications & Experience
  • In-depth knowledge of Ontario H&S legislation and regulations.
  • CRSP or NCSO certification.
  • 7-10 years of construction safety experience.
  • Experience with safety programs and accident investigations.
