Job summary

Fresche Solutions Inc. seeks a Senior RPG Programmer/Analyst to lead analysis, design, development, and maintenance of critical IBM i applications. You’ll architect solutions bridging legacy reliability with modern efficiency, working independently and in teams to provide consulting in support of business systems.

You will collaborate across projects, resolve client issues, and guide code reviews while modernizing legacy business apps into scalable ILE solutions.

Qualifications

• 20+ years of proven experience with the IBM i (iSeries/AS/400) platform.
• Mastery of RPG forms (RPGLE) including Free-form syntax and embedded SQL.
• Proven hands-on experience with JDA/MMS (Mandatory).
• Expert-level DB2 application programming and database design.
• Deep understanding of ILE concepts (Modules, Service Programs, Binding Directories).
• Experience with structured deployment and version control processes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with clients and developers.

Responsibilities

• Consult & Collaborate: Support clients in resolving application issues, identify business needs, and deliver solutions through the full project life cycle.
• Architect & Develop: Analyze, design, code, and test software applications using all versions of RPG and SQL.
• Testing and Quality Assurance: Ensure program and application integrity through Unit, Integration, and other testing phases.
• Document and Communicate: Translate system architecture into clear documentation for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Quality Leadership: Lead a small technical team when required and conduct code reviews for database and logic changes.

As a Senior RPG Programmer/Analyst, you will lead the analysis, design, development, and maintenance of business-critical IBM i applications. Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Consult & Collaborate: Support our clients in resolving application issues, identify business needs, and deliver solutions throughout the full project life cycle.

• Testing and Quality Assurance: Ensure program and application integrity through various testing phases (Unit, Integration, Smoke, etc.).


• Document and Communicate: Translate system architecture into clear textual and visual documentation for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.


• Quality Leadership: Capable of leading a small technical team when required. Lead code reviews for database and logic changes.


• Modernize: Support our clients to transform legacy business applications into modern, scalable ILE applications.

What You Bring to the Table

• Expertise: 20+ years of proven experience with the IBM i (iSeries/AS/400) platform.


• Advanced RPG: Mastery of various forms of RPG (especially RPGLE, including Free-form syntax and embedded SQL).


• ERP / Package Experience: Proven hands-on experience with JDA/MMS (Mandatory).


• Database Depth: Expert-level DB2 application programming and database design.


• Modern Concepts: Deep understanding of ILE concepts (Modules, Service Programs, Binding Directories)


• Change Management: Experience navigating structured deployment and version control processes.


• Communication: Capable of verbal and written communication with various levels of client personnel. The ability to explain technical \"why\" to stakeholders in business terms and \"how\" to developers in technical terms.

Nice to Have

• Application Packages: Experience with major IBM I ERP systems (Infor LX, BPCS, Infor XA, MAPICS, PRMS, JDE, Frontier, HFA, etc.)


• Applications: Distribution, Manufacturing, Finance, Insurance.


• Tooling: Experience with RDi (Rational Developer for i) or Eclipse-based IDEs.


• Modern DevOps: Familiarity with Git or SVN in an IBM i environment.


• Analysis: Experience with Impact Analysis tools.


• Integrations: Experience with integration solutions using APIs, JSON, XML and other integration tools such as GoAnywhere.
