Job summary

Fresche Solutions Inc. is seeking a Senior RPG Programmer/Analyst to lead analysis, design, and development of IBM i applications. You will modernize legacy systems, architect scalable solutions, and guide client engagements across North America.

You will work both independently and as part of a collaborative team, delivering consulting services to optimize business applications and ensure high-quality software through rigorous testing and documentation.

Qualifications

• 20+ years of hands-on IBM i (iSeries/AS/400) development.
• Expert RPG programming with RPGLE and SQL.
• Experience with ERP packages and JDA/MMS.
• Deep DB2 programming and database design.
• Strong knowledge of IBM i ILE concepts.
• Experience with deployment and version control processes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with clients.

Responsibilities

The Impact You’ll Make

As a Senior RPG Programmer/Analyst, you will lead the analysis, design, development, and maintenance of business-critical IBM i applications. You are architecting solutions that help our clients bridge the gap between legacy reliability and modern efficiency – not just writing code.

You will work both independently and as part of a collaborative team, providing our clients with consulting services in support of their business applications systems.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Consult & Collaborate: Support our clients in resolving application issues, identify business needs, and deliver solutions throughout the full project life cycle.
  
• Architect & Develop: Analyze, design, code, and test software applications using all versions of RPG and SQL.
• Testing and Quality Assurance: Ensure program and application integrity through various testing phases (Unit, Integration, Smoke, etc.).
• Document and Communicate: Translate system architecture into clear textual and visual documentation for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Quality Leadership: Capable of leading a small technical team when required. Lead code reviews for database and logic changes.
• Modernize: Support our clients to transform legacy business applications into modern, scalable ILE applications.

What You Bring to the Table

• Expertise: 20+ years of proven experience with the IBM i (iSeries/AS/400) platform.
  
• Advanced RPG: Mastery of various forms of RPG (especially RPGLE, including Free-form syntax and embedded SQL).
• ERP / Package Experience: Proven hands-on experience with JDA/MMS (Mandatory).
• Database Depth: Expert-level DB2 application programming and database design.
  
• Modern Concepts: Deep understanding of ILE concepts (Modules, Service Programs, Binding Directories)
• Change Management: Experience navigating structured deployment and version control processes.
  
• Communication: Capable of verbal and written communication with various levels of client personnel. The ability to explain technical "why" to stakeholders in business terms and "how" to developers in technical terms.

Nice to Have

• Application Packages: Experience with major IBM I ERP systems (Infor LX, BPCS, Infor XA, MAPICS, PRMS, JDE, Frontier, HFA, etc.)
• Applications: Distribution, Manufacturing, Finance, Insurance.
• Tooling: Experience with RDi (Rational Developer for i) or Eclipse-based IDEs.
• Modern DevOps: Familiarity with Git or SVN in an IBM i environment.
• Analysis: Experience with Impact Analysis tools.
• Integrations: Experience with integration solutions using APIs, JSON, XML and other integration tools such as GoAnywhere.
