Mercer Canada is seeking a Senior DB Actuarial Consultant for our Montreal office.

The Mercer Senior Defined Benefits (DB) Actuarial Consultant will sell and deliver customized retirement consulting services to both new and existing clients (large or jumbo), focusing on implementing non-standard and complex solutions across multiple lines of business. This role will also lead and develop internal staff to ensure operational excellence and knowledge sharing.

To fulfill this role, the Senior DB Actuarial Consultant will :

  • Lead sales initiatives by driving new business proposals and expanding services offered to retirement and other lines of business clients, with an emphasis on building ongoing relationships.
  • Serve as the lead consultant on large or jumbo clients.
  • Assist in expanding existing client relationships by leveraging internal intellectual capital and collaborating with other lines of business; routinely sell comprehensive retirement plan management services, including specialty groups such as the annuity purchase group, legal and tax practices, and investments.
  • Mentor and coach staff, motivating them to deliver high-quality work within set timeframes and budgets, fostering an environment of achievement.
  • Contribute to the development of Mercer’s intellectual capital and participate in its dissemination.
  • Collaborate with local office and market leadership to establish realistic budgets and manage write-offs.

What you need to have :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Math, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in benefits consulting, with proven ability to sell and deliver retirement consulting services to senior business leaders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build credibility and trust at all organizational levels.
  • Experience leading large teams.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Proven leadership capabilities.
  • Experience managing large, complex projects and client expectations.
  • Track record of successful sales results.
  • Strong financial project management skills.
  • FSA / FCIA designation.
  • For Quebec residents: Proficiency in both English and French, as required by Bill 96, to communicate effectively with bilingual clients.
