Job description

Role : Senior Resource Geologist and Geostatistician

Micon is a highly skilled multidisciplinary engineering company with service capabilities covering geology, mining, metallurgy, mineral economics, and environmental and social studies in the mining, minerals processing, and financial sectors.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Resource Geologist and Geostatistician responsible for leading mineral resource estimation and reporting, managing geological models, and ensuring the integrity of geoscientific data and interpretations.

Reporting to the CEO and Principal Resource Geologist, your duties will include, but are not limited to :

  • Develop, validate, and maintain 3D geological and resource models using industry-standard software (e.g., Leapfrog, Datamine, Surpac, Micromine).
  • Apply advanced geostatistical modeling to ensure accurate resource estimation.
  • Review and improve data collection, sampling, and QA / QC protocols.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff.
  • Liaise with consultants and regulatory bodies for audits and reviews.
  • Generate technical reports, memos, and resource statements.
  • Collaborate with exploration and mine geology teams for consistent interpretations.
  • Lead resource estimation projects in compliance with international reporting codes (e.g., JORC, NI 43-101, SAMREC).

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • Proficiency in geological modeling and estimation software.
  • Experience in open pit and / or underground mining environments.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality, defensible models.
  • Registered or eligible for registration with a professional geoscience organization.
  • Knowledge of geological principles, resource estimation methodologies, and international standards.
  • Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in resource geology, including significant 3D modeling and estimation experience.
