Position Description

A team effort in this laboratory focuses on isolation of islet cells from human pancreata and experimentation on methods to support long-term maintenance of transplanted islet cells in vivo. The Senior Research Scientist will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day experimental activities related to research projects and isolation of islet cells for transplant. The position will be responsible for organization and analysis of collected data. This position also will have a high degree of independence in an innovative and creative research environment that emphasizes scientific rigor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Organize data collection and analysis activities to assist in direction and conduction of research studies.
  • Assist in the preparation of grant submissions, manuscript submissions, slide presentations, and regulatory documents and reports.
  • Oversee experimental research and assist in special research projects when needed.
  • Collaborate with other investigators to conduct multidisciplinary research projects
  • Provide analytic and narrative input in manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals, prepare abstracts, and present research findings at local and national meetings.
  • Develop and implement analysis protocols for data acquisition related to epidural stimulation studies in human spinal cord injury.
  • Provide technical direction to research staff, coordinate and monitor data quality and data processing flow.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Background in Pathology, Molecular Medicine, Molecular Biology, or Cellular Biology and any cellular therapy or GMP experience very desirable.
  • Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Familiar with techniques including flow cytometry, cellular and molecular biology, cellular culture and sterile hood work.
  • Experience working with human tissues is very desirable.

Compensation

Target Compensation Minimum: 67,035.00

Target Compensation Maximum: 100,553.00

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
