The Bloorview Research Institute (BRI), embedded within the hospital, is the only university-affiliated research institute in Canada dedicated to pediatric disability, and one of very few around the world. BRI's vision is to be a global leader in transformative, equity-driven research dedicated to enabling personalized versions of a good life across the lifespan, for all individuals with childhood onset disabilities, acquired injuries and developmental differences, their families and communities.
Reporting to the Associate Chief of Data Science, the Senior Research Engineer will work in a multi-disciplinary team to build an enterprise-wide integrated informatics platform that will enable the seamless, secure and compliant exchange of hospital and research data. The Senior Research Engineer will support the design, development, and maintenance of a research data infrastructure platform in collaboration with diverse teams across the hospital including research, clinicians, strategy, and information management.
This role is pivotal in building a centralized metadata repository for research studies and developing scalable pipelines for data linkage and de-identification. This work will maximize the efficient flow and exchange of clinical and research data within our organization to ensure our ability to deliver on strategic commitments, including becoming a learning health system and advancing precision health. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database architecture, data governance, privacy-preserving technologies, and legal and ethical research frameworks.
