Job summary

The Home Depot Canada is seeking a Lead Rental Equipment Technician to serve as the senior technical authority for large equipment maintenance and diagnostics. This mobile lead role combines advanced mechanical repair, training rental staff, and coordinating mobile service technicians across the Greater Toronto Area.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 2 years in heavy equipment, light industrial, or gas mechanical systems.
• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Licensing: Valid driver’s license, clean record, and tandem-axle towing experience.
• Skilled in complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical diagnostics and repairs.
• Able to read repair manuals, schematics, and parts guides.
• Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, and diagnostic apps.
• Tools: Must provide standard hand/trade tools.

Responsibilities

• Technical Expert: Diagnose, inspect and repair gas/diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical, fuel, and brake systems.
• Preventative Maintenance: Complete safety campaigns, and PDI new and existing equipment.
• Downtime Reduction: Assess down tools, order parts, complete repairs, and update leadership on critical timelines.
• Asset Tracking: Maintain GPS and track asset moves between locations and job sites.
• Regulatory Compliance: Maintain accurate drivers log, inspections, and provincial transportation compliance.
• Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Train and support rental associates and mobile service technicians on Large Equipment procedures.
• Customer Support: Act as the escalation contact and deliver job-site support within 24 hours.
