Job summary

The Home Depot Canada Lead Rental Equipment Technician role in the Greater Toronto Area is a mobile, senior technical authority for maintenance, diagnostics and customer readiness. You will oversee advanced mechanical repair, technician training, fleet support and coordination of on-site service.

Qualifications include 2+ years in heavy equipment, a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to read manuals and schematics.

  • Minimum 2 years in heavy equipment, light industrial, or gas mechanical systems.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license, clean record, and tandem-axle towing experience.
  • Skilled in complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical diagnostics and repairs.
  • Able to read repair manuals, schematics, and parts guides.
  • Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, and diagnostic apps.
  • Tools: Must provide standard hand/trade tools.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, inspect and repair gas/diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical, fuel, and brake systems.
  • Complete safety campaigns, and PDI new and existing equipment.
  • Assess downtime, order parts, complete repairs, and update leadership on timelines.
  • Maintain GPS and track asset moves between locations and job sites.
  • Maintain accurate drivers log, inspections, and provincial transportation compliance.
  • Store Enablement: Train and support rental associates and mobile service technicians on Large Equipment procedures.
  • Customer Support: Act as the escalation contact and deliver job-site support within 24 hours.

Lead Rental Equipment Technician

  • This role pays: $28-31$ per hour
  • Multisite location: Greater Toronto Area
Position Overview

The Lead Rental Technician is the senior technical authority for large equipment maintenance, diagnostics, and customer readiness. This mobile lead role combines advanced mechanical repair, Tool rental associate training, Mobile Service Technician coordination, and fleet support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Location: Live within 25 km of the target location or be willing to commute.
