The Senior Registered CFAA Technician will be a part of a dedicated team that specializes in navigating the complex field of Fire Prevention and Life Safety, enabling our clients to make informed decisions and meet regulatory safety requirements. You will play a pivotal role in conducting project management inspections, assessments and follow-up reports. Your expertise will extend to compliance with relevant codes and industry standards.

As a member of Ignis Building Solutions, you will:

  • Be a part of a professional team, interacting with clients, contractors, architects, consultants, industry organizations and professionals to assess, install, provide maintenance and repair malfunctions in network fire alarm systems
  • Represent Ignis on multiple sites and high profile client properties
  • Provide excellent customer service, professional support and solutions, and always provide updates and submit reports in an efficient and timely manner
  • Hold a valid CFAA registration in good standing with up-to-date continuing education credits
  • Be provided opportunities and courses for career development
  • Will have the opportunity to train and mentor Junior and Intermediate technicians

As a Senior Registered CFAA Technician you will:

  • Perform and understand services under CAN/ULC 536 & 537
  • Conduct routine maintenance and testing of fire alarm systems to ensure they are functioning properly and complying with regulatory requirements
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair malfunctions or faults in conventional and network fire alarm systems
  • Maintain accurate records and reports of all inspections, tests, and maintenance activities performed
  • Be a part of the 24/hour on-call rotation
  • Interact with clients, to provide accurate reports supported by relevant Codes and Standards (Fire Protection and Prevention Act, Ontario Fire Code, Building Code Act, Ontario Building Code and Provincial Offences Act, OFM Technical and Public Fire Safety Guidelines, and related standards and legislation)
  • Provide feedback and suggestions on system enhancements/improvements
  • Attend client meetings and engage with engineering and authorities having jurisdiction
  • Adhere to all health and safety protocols and procedures
  • Provide training and guidance to building occupants or maintenance personnel
  • Travel as necessary for business meetings, client engagements, and industry events
  • Will work at High profile commercial buildings in the downtown core and the GTHA

Requirements:

  • A valid CFAA (Canadian Fire Alarm Association) registration & up to date Continuing Education Credits
  • A minimum of 3- 5 years of field experience
  • Experience conducting building and property inspections
  • Experience installing fire alarm, clean agent, and other fire protection systems and equipment is an asset
  • Experience reading blueprints, installation guides, and technical documents
  • Experience with track of time on job sites
  • Experience with digital reporting system
  • programming experience or willingness to be trained in programming is an asset
  • S1001 Certification is an asset
  • Smoke Control Testing Experience is an asset
  • Knowledge of the Fire Protection and Prevention Act, Ontario Fire Code Building Code Act, Ontario Building Code and Provincial Offences Act, OFM Technical and Public Fire Safety Guidelines, and related standards and legislation is an asset
  • Appropriate set of hand tools and meter
  • First Aid and Working from Heights certification is an asset (otherwise training will be provided)
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle – able to travel around the GTHA
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage own workflow
  • Excellent organization, accuracy, and time management skills
  • Advanced proficiency by quickly adapting to new technology and easily acquiring new technical skills
  • Strong problem solving and analytical abilities; proactive in anticipating needs, potential problems and adept at mitigating risk where necessary
  • Ability to work collaboratively within and across teams
  • Ability to manage high volume of work and respond quickly and accurately
  • Ability to walk long distances, wear PPE (including but not limited to vest, hard hat, safety glasses, respirators) and climb ladders/scaffolding while conducting inspections
  • Highly flexible with a positive, can-do attitude, willingness to learn and grow
