Job summary

A Canadian technology firm based in Ottawa is seeking an experienced RF Engineer to review and evaluate RF systems, recommend solutions, and conduct integration testing. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in RF engineering and strong skills in technical documentation. Job description

Job Description

  • Review and evaluate RF engineering details, including plans, specifications and related data, to assess their adequacy and suitability;
  • Review and provide technical input upon RF system and sub-system interface documentation;
  • Recommend system level solutions for discrepancies, deficiencies and changes to RF equipment and specifications;
  • Provide technical expertise in design, technical and management reviews of RF systems or related meetings to monitor and advise on progress and potential problems;
  • Conduct or oversee RF system integration testing and evaluation;
  • Develop and manage RF system test and evaluation plans and present the results to project staff and stakeholders;
  • Review, analyze and provide recommendations related to RF system components, spectrum compliance, and associated documentation;
  • Provide RF system integration, analysis, and evaluation services;
  • Produce, review, analyze and interpret SOWs related to RF;
  • Liaise with DND and stakeholder sub-system engineering groups to ensure system integrity, performance, reliability and maintainability;
  • Analyze RF system deficiencies and recommend cost effective solutions;
  • Conduct engineering and technical definition studies and options analysis of RF systems;
  • Conduct radio communications (Very Low Frequency (VLF) Low Frequency (LF)/Medium Frequency (MF)/High Frequency (HF)/Very High Frequency (VHF)/Ultra High Frequency (UHF), Ka band, Ku band and X band engineering and design test analysis;
  • Conduct, digital, computer system, voice network, spectrum compliance, data network, and microwave system engineering design, and test analysis;
  • Perform any other work related to this category.
Qualifications
  • Must have one of the following:
  • An Engineering or Science degree from a recognized Canadian University or a non-Canadian Engineering or Science degree that must be accredited
  • A diploma or certificate, minimum 2 years from a recognized college in an Information Management / Information Technology (IM/IT) field;
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer by any Professional Engineering self-regulatory bodies within the provinces of Canada.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience as a Radio Frequency Engineer
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in writing Project Technical Documentation (e.g. Statement of Work, Statement of Requirements, technical specifications) for RF Communications projects valued $5M or more.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience performing engineering design, integration, test or analysis of RF communication design and development.
Additional Information
  • Able to obtain and maintain a Canadian Government NATO Secret Clearance
  • Able to go onsite 5 days a week in Ottawa
  • Potential travel outside the NRC may be required
