Job summary

LJB Canada, Inc. in Calgary, AB is seeking a seasoned Quantity Surveyor to lead cost estimation and contract management on major civil projects. You will prepare bids, budgets, and cost reports, and coordinate with project controls, procurement, and field teams to ensure value and compliance.

The ideal candidate holds a CQS or PQS, a Bachelor's in Quantity Surveying or related field, and 10+ years of lead QS experience on large contracts (>$100M). Ability to work a demanding schedule is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Certified Quantity Surveyor (CQS) or Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS) certification required.
• 10+ years of lead QS experience on civil construction projects.
• Experience handling contracts > $100M from inception to close out.
• Excellent problem solving, teamwork, and communication skills.
• Ability to work Weekdays, nights, and weekends in field and office.

Responsibilities

• Consult clients to understand requirements.
• Prepare tender packages and bills of quantities.
• Manage RFP process through bid qualification to award.
• Prepare contracts, change orders, and cost reports.
• Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes.
• Coordinate with project controls and finance for CAPEX alignment.
• Support risk, value engineering, and cost control measures.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and quality standards.
• Lead subcontractor evaluation and payments.
• Mentor junior staff.
