Job summary

vTech Solution's Senior Systems Testing/QA Specialist leads QA for the Ontario Agricultural Soil Information System (OASIS). You will design and execute test strategies for cloud-based Java apps and geospatial components, ensuring accessibility and security compliance, and drive defect tracking across Agile, Hybrid, and Waterfall contexts.

You will collaborate with developers, architects, analysts, and stakeholders to validate requirements and support reliable software delivery.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of QA and testing experience in Agile, Hybrid, and Waterfall SDLC environments.
• Experience testing cloud-based applications developed with Java, JSON, RESTful Web Services, and HTML5.
• Proven ability to develop and execute test strategies, plans, and scripts and to report findings.
• Experience with defect tracking and software testing lifecycle management.
• Knowledge of accessibility testing and AODA compliance.
• Familiarity with privacy, security, and confidentiality in public sector contexts.

The Senior Systems Testing/QA Specialist is responsible for leading quality assurance activities for the Ontario Agricultural Soil Information System (OASIS). This role involves comprehensive testing of cloud-based Java applications and geospatial technologies to ensure software quality, usability, and compliance with accessibility and security standards. The specialist will develop and execute test strategies, manage defect tracking, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support successful software delivery within Agile, Hybrid, and Waterfall environments.

Responsibilities:

• Perform ongoing testing of cloud-based Java applications, JSON, RESTful Web Services, and HTML5 components.
• Identify, document, track, and manage software defects throughout the testing lifecycle.
• Validate business and technical requirements and support debugging activities to enhance software quality and usability.
• Conduct accessibility testing in compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) using appropriate tools.
• Use quality assurance tools such as Azure DevOps and Postman for test management and API testing.
• Ensure compliance with Ontario Public Service privacy, security, and confidentiality policies, standards, and governance.
• Collaborate effectively with business stakeholders, developers, architects, analysts, and project teams.
• Adapt testing approaches within Agile environments to align with organizational processes and delivery objectives.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Minimum 5 years of quality assurance and testing experience in Agile, Hybrid, and Waterfall SDLC environments.
• Proven experience testing cloud-based applications developed with Java technologies, JSON, RESTful Web Services, and HTML5.
• Strong skills in developing and executing test strategies, plans, cases, scripts, and reporting artifacts.
• Experience with defect tracking and management throughout the software testing lifecycle.
• Knowledge of accessibility testing and compliance with AODA standards.
• Proficiency with quality assurance tools such as Azure DevOps and Postman.
• Understanding of privacy, security, and confidentiality compliance within the Ontario Public Service context.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience using AI-assisted QA and testing tools to enhance testing effectiveness and productivity.
• Background testing applications related to agriculture, environmental programs, or soil management.
• Experience testing Esri ArcGIS, Survey123 applications, and geospatial technologies.
• Skills in validating integrations involving RESTful APIs, geospatial services, and mapping applications.
• Proven ability to deliver QA services effectively within Agile organizational environments.

Special Considerations:

• Must comply with Ontario Public Service policies on privacy, security, and confidentiality.
• Testing includes accessibility compliance under AODA.
• Work involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.

Scheduling:

• Hybrid work arrangement requiring onsite presence 2 days per week at Toronto or Guelph offices.
• Work schedule aligned with project timelines and milestones, supporting Agile and hybrid SDLC methodologies.
