Job summary

RBC in Toronto is seeking a Data Engineering Tools Developer to build internal tools and Python-based frameworks that boost data pipeline productivity and reliability. You will create reusable tooling and Streamlit dashboards to monitor data platforms and support governance across teams.

The role emphasizes Python development, data engineering experience, and collaboration with data engineers, platform engineers and data architects to standardize pipeline practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, software eng or related field.
• 4–7 years in software or data engineering roles.
• Strong Python development skills.
• Experience building data pipelines and data processing frameworks.
• Experience developing internal engineering tools or reusable libraries.
• Experience with Streamlit or similar data tools dashboards.
• Strong SQL knowledge and handling large datasets.
• Experience with Git, testing frameworks, and CI/CD.
• Experience in Agile environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and build internal tools and frameworks for accelerated data pipeline development and deployment.
• Develop Python libraries and reusable components for data ingestion, transformation, testing and monitoring.
• Build interactive developer tools and dashboards using Streamlit for monitoring and data exploration.
• Create frameworks for data validation and automated pipeline testing.
• Develop utilities to improve data pipeline observability, logging and operations.
• Collaborate with data engineers to standardize pipeline development patterns and best practices.
• Integrate tools with orchestration platforms, CI/CD pipelines and cloud data platforms.
• Build automation for data platform operations, metadata management and governance.
• Support adoption of data engineering best practices and standards.
• Troubleshoot and optimize tools for performance, scalability and reliability.
