Our client, a leading Canadian financial institution , is seeking an Expert Python Developer to support a high-impact initiative to convert legacy SAS code into modern Python.

This is an exciting chance to be part of a critical data transformation project in a collaborative, high-performing environment.

Role Overview

As the Expert Python Developer, you will :

• Analyze and interpret existing SAS code and business logic
• Rebuild and optimize workflows using Python and modern data tools
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and performance through rigorous validation
• Partner with cross-functional teams across data, risk, and technology
• Type : 5-month contract (with strong potential for extension)
• Location : Downtown Toronto (Hybrid – 2 days / week onsite)
• Start Date : ASAP
• Industry : Financial Services

Required Skills

• 7+ years of professional Python development experience
• Proven expertise in converting or rewriting SAS code in Python
• Strong grasp of data transformation, analytics, and ETL pipelines
• Proficiency with Pandas, NumPy, SQL , and other data-centric Python libraries
• Excellent problem-solving and independent execution skills

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with SAS Base or Enterprise Guide
• Experience in financial services, risk modeling, or data governance
