Job summary

Stantec in Canada is seeking a Protection and Control Engineer to join our team in Quebec. You will design protection, control, automation, and supervisory systems for power facilities, and lead projects from concept to commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in protection, control, and automation engineering.
• P.Eng. designation and membership in a Canadian regulatory body.
• Strong knowledge of protection, control, and automation for HV/MV substations and power systems.
• Experience with Canadian electrical codes and utility requirements (CEC, CSA, IEEE).
• English proficiency; French is an asset.
• ASP Construction Health and Safety Card or willingness to obtain one.
• Strong communication, leadership, and client relationship skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify client needs, develop technical solutions, and prepare service proposals and scope definitions.
• Design protection, control, automation, and supervisory systems for industrial facilities and transmission networks.
• Act as Discipline Lead and/or Project Manager for projects from studies through commissioning.
• Prepare and review electrical drawings and diagrams (single-line, three-line, logic, AC/DC).
• Develop equipment specifications, reports, and calculation packages per industry standards.
• Supervise and review detailed designs and field documentation.
• Conduct protection coordination, short-circuit, arc flash, and power system studies.
• Ensure designs comply with CEC, CSA, IEEE and client requirements.
