You'll manage the entire proposal process—from identifying opportunities to scheduling post-submission debriefs.

About the Role
The Senior Proposal Writer plays a central role in our business development process. You will manage and be responsible for leading answers to public Requests for Proposals (federal, provincial, municipal) and select private invitations. This includes strategy, content development, coordination with partners, staff and consultants, and documentation of outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor tender platforms on a daily basis and identify relevant opportunities.
- Lead the go/no-go process and proposal strategy development with a Partner.
- Report to and coordinate activities with the Partner-in-Charge.
- Coordinate with the Marketing Director for validation of branding.
- Develop and maintain detailed proposal schedules and checklists to meet strict deadlines.
- Analyze RFP documents to distill client priorities and evaluation criteria.
- Coordinate content inputs from partners, project managers, and consultants.
- Draft and edit proposal sections, including methodology, team bios, and understanding of the project—ensuring tone, clarity, and alignment with client goals.
- Solicit proposals from engineering firms and support partner selection of subconsultants.
- Track proposal development progress and provide status updates to the lead partner for that proposal.
- Submit final proposals, ensuring compliance with page limits, formats, and submission protocols.
- After results are announced, schedule and lead client debrief and document feedback and preparation hours for internal review.
- Maintain a database of curricula vitae, project sheets, boilerplate content and imagery.
- Track proposal outcomes and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Manage the proposal writing team and delegate accordingly.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in proposal writing or marketing in the architecture, engineering, or construction industry.
- Strong familiarity with Canadian public procurement processes and documents.
- Proven ability to lead and manage complex, deadline-driven submissions.
- Experience in working collaboratively and coordinating with peers, partners, project managers and consultants.
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills in both English and French.
- Comfortable improving partner- or manager-written content while respecting voice and intent.
- Highly organized, able to juggle multiple proposals simultaneously with precision.
- Solid experience in architectural, engineering and/or construction practices.
- Experience with InDesign, Word, Excel and other software tools, as well as Deltek and other CRM software.
