Job summary

Colliers in Canada is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead a property accounting team responsible for full-cycle accounting for a commercial portfolio. You will manage monthly and quarterly statements, operating costs, tax recoveries, budgets, and audits.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of progressive property accounting experience and a passion for training and mentoring staff. Collaboration with auditors and management is essential in a hybrid Toronto/Vancouver/Calgary role.

Qualifications

• CPA designation (asset) with a post-secondary degree in a related discipline.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in commercial real estate.
• Experience training, mentoring and overseeing junior accounting staff.
• Ability to review junior staff work for accuracy and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, direction, coaching and mentorship to develop a high-performance team.
• Ensure timely completion of annual activities: property budgets, operating cost adjustments, taxes, audits.
• Participate in planning for forecasts, budgets, audits, and monthly reporting.
• Review team activities to meet deadlines, standards and procedures.
• Ensure timely completion of month-end, quarter-end, year-end, and audits for properties.
• Identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency and service delivery.
• Collaborate with property management and other groups to deliver top-tier service.
• Work with auditors on financial statement audits and operating cost audits for tenants.
• Support positive team culture and onboarding/offboarding of properties.
