Job summary

Allied Properties REIT is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to manage the full accounting cycle for a portfolio of commercial properties. Reporting to a Manager, Accounting, you’ll support financial reporting, operating costs, and tax recovery processes to inform decisions.

The role requires 2–3 years in commercial property accounting, proficiency in Excel, and experience with Yardi; collaboration across teams is essential. This is a full-time on-site position in Toronto with strong benefits.

Qualifications

• University degree or college diploma in Accounting or related field.
• Accounting designation or enrollment in a designation program is preferred.
• 2–3 years of experience in commercial property accounting or real estate.

Responsibilities

• Manage full monthly accounting cycle for a portfolio of commercial properties including journal entries, bank reconciliations, and HST remittances.
• Maintain fixed asset module and prepare amortization entries.
• Prepare monthly operating costs and tax recovery estimates including CAM as needed.
• Perform recovery calculations, analyze recovery ratio, and prepare shortfall analyses.
• Review financial statements and perform variance analyses.
• Ensure reporting deadlines are met and align with policies and procedures.
• Assist with annual CAM adjustments, bills, and audits; support JV tasks and quarterly forecasts.
• Assist with audits, property appraisals, tax appeals, and ad hoc projects.
