We are looking for a dynamic, organized, and experienced Senior Project Scheduler to support Environmental Remediation Management (ERM) Project Teams and to focus on the continuous improvement of ERM project processes and schedules. What will you be doing!

  • Providing hands-on support to Project Teams with developing and maintaining Project and/or Field Schedules while providing staff mentorship and enabling Mission-wide standardization.
  • Developing Gating & Sanctioning deliverables for Project Scheduling, such as the Basis of Schedule (BOS).
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues involving ERM Project Schedule development and maintenance.
  • Working with the ERM Lead Project Scheduler / ERM Program Office, Central Project Management Office (PMO), and the ERM Project Team members to provide solutions for the development/maintenance of high-quality schedules while resolving/avoiding conflicts with CNL procedures.
  • Supporting the rollout of new or updated Project Schedule improvement initiatives derived from CNL Award Fees and/or stakeholders such as Central PMO, CNL Senior Management, and AECL.
  • Supporting Awareness Sessions and training to Project Teams on Project Scheduling best practices and current CNL procedures that are applicable to Project Scheduling, with the intent of Mission-wide standardization and overall quality improvement.
  • Providing availability to Project Teams for ad-hoc recommendations and troubleshooting Project Scheduling issues that arise in the field.
  • Mentoring and directing Junior Project Schedulers and Students within the ERM Program Office and ERM Project Team.
  • Supporting and guiding Project Teams on developing Gating & Sanctioning Scheduling deliverables, such as Basis of Schedule documents.
  • Developing schedule strategies for complex Programs and Projects including the integration of third-party providers.
  • Performing formal Project Assurance reviews of Project Schedules to successfully pass through CNL’s Gating & Sanctioning process.
  • Effectively communicating with the team to ensure understanding of review comments and provide recommendations/solutions for their dispositioning.
  • Supporting ERM Program Office reviews of What-if schedules, ensuring high-quality Change Control submissions to Central PMO.
  • Improving ERM Baseline Schedule through Schedule Reviews and the development of improvement initiatives for application across the Mission.
  • Performing formal Project Assurance reviews of Schedule-related Gating & Sanctioning deliverables such as Basis of Schedules.
  • Supporting the ERM Lead Project Scheduler with the maintenance and further development of ERM’s portion of the IMS, facilitating between Central PMO, ERM Strategic Planning, and the ERM Project Teams.
  • Analyzing and communicating variances/discrepancies between the Incident Management System (IMS) and the Projects’ Current Schedules.
  • Supporting the facilitation of quality Strategic Reviews and maintaining the IMS’ correct functionality to ensure a useful end-product that can be effectively analyzed by various stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

  • Education
    • Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University combined with progressive experience. An equivalent combination of formal training and progressive experience will be considered.
    • Must actively maintain a PMI certification, such as PMP, CAPM, or PMI-SP.
  • Experience
    • Successful candidate to have at least 10 years of continuous Project/Program Scheduling experience, including experience with Project Schedule development, maintenance, oversight, formal reviews, variance analysis, Change Management, Strategic Planning, and integration of third party schedules, following organizational procedures and universal best practices.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Ability to investigate complex problems throughout the development/maintenance of a Project Schedule and produce effective solutions that align with CNL procedures and universal best practices.
    • Effectively troubleshoot and resolve front-end issues with CNL’s primary schedule tool, Primavera P6.
    • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to accurately evaluate detailed Project Scopes for the application to Project Schedules.
    • Excellent time-management skills with the ability to work on fixed, tight deadlines and to plan and prioritize work in advance to work efficiently and accurately.
    • Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels with senior management, stakeholders, and Project Team members, both orally and in writing, to gain a thorough understanding of challenges and apply/recommend effective solutions.
    • Strong mentorship abilities.
    • Ability to review Schedules and Scheduling deliverables to confirm quality and compliance with corporate guidance.
    • Proactive and able to work with minimal supervision.
    • Expert knowledge of Project Scheduling universal best practices.
    • Expert understanding of Project Time Management and a strong understanding of the nine other PMBOK knowledge areas.
    • Understanding of Earned Value Management, including Schedule Performance Index (SPI) and Schedule Variance Analysis, and the development of Corrective Action recommendations.
    • Intermediate knowledge of office tools such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Power BI, and PowerPoint.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
