Job Description
- Plan, execute, and oversee construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and budget adherence.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including contractors and suppliers, to maintain project alignment.
- Monitor project progress and performance, providing regular updates and reports to senior leadership.
- Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety standards throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage project resources effectively, including labour, materials, and equipment.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with vendors and service providers as needed.
- Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement within the project team.
The Successful Applicant
A successful Senior Project Manager should have:
- A strong understanding of construction processes, project management methodologies, and best practices.
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects within the business services industry.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills to guide diverse teams effectively.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools to track and report progress.
- Familiarity with regulatory and safety standards in the construction field.
- A proactive mindset with a focus on delivering high-quality outcomes.
- 8+ years of experience with a General Contractor (not a developer) on mid-to-large commercial projects
- Minimum 5+ years in a direct Project Manager role with a proven track record of delivering successful builds
- Hands-on experience managing projects from design phase to final completion
- Demonstrated Construction Management (CM) conversion experience (CCDC 5A/5B → CCDC 2)
- Expert knowledge of Construction Management processes and delivery models
- Advanced skills in budgeting at all levels (Class D, B, Tender) and a strong understanding of the tendering process
- Proficiency in risk management, opportunity identification, and tender recap preparation
- Skilled in MS Project scheduling, site logistics planning, and methodology development
- Strong forecasting and financial reporting abilities to keep projects on time and on budget
- Valid driver's license and ability to balance both office and site work
