Senior Project Manager to support project planning, resourcing, staffing, vendor assessment, progress reporting, and stakeholder management

Our valued higher education client is seeking a Senior Project Manager to support project planning, resourcing, staffing, vendor assessment, progress reporting, and stakeholder management!

Initial 6-month contract opportunity with possibility of extension. Primarily remote with 1-2 days of on-site work required per month and additional ad-hoc on-site work required with advance notice. 7.25 hours per day, Monday to Friday.

As the successful candidate, you will provide project planning, monitoring, and management support for the IT Services PMO. Some of the key projects that are ongoing at the moment include the development of a new service management catalogue for business partners, an application portfolio management inventory analysis, development of new IT Service Management processes to support the implementation of Salesforce, as well as a migration from an on-premises environment to the Azure Cloud.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the established project vision. Participate in the definition of project objectives and scope and a list of deliverables by collaborating with project sponsor, and stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date project plans by identifying deliverables, by reckoning duration and by participating in human resources designation for tasks; develop and manage the detailed project schedule and project management plans (e.g. requirements, scope, schedule, cost, communication, resource, risk, issue, change management, quality, etc.).
  • Follow and control the project evolution and communicate the progress made, in line with corporate policies and standards; effectively facilitate meetings and create presentations related to milestones, issue resolution, project status; conduct overall project/program reporting; identify problem situations, handle them, take action and suggest solutions.
  • Integrate and evaluate the Change Management Approach. Monitor implementation efforts and transition issues to ensure business risks are identified and solutions are recommended. Ensure follow-up and troubleshoot problems.
  • Provide high-quality project and program management standards across the whole project lifecycle.
  • Business Case Development and Implementation by collaborating with all stakeholders and business partners to develop a comprehensive business case for implementing the recommendations

Must Have Skills:

  • 8+ years as a Project Manager with 5+ years demonstrated experience leading large multi-million dollar initiatives(e.g. cloud transformation projects, ITSM process implementation/improvement projects, application portfolio management, or IT evergreening initiatives)
  • Project management certification (PMP, Prince2, Agile)
  • Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field within Information Technology.

Must Have Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience supporting the implementation of a student information system (SIS) or managing integration projects between a large portfolio of legacy applications
  • Demonstrated experience supporting clients within the higher education/academia industry
