Senior Project Manager with public sector experience to lead SharePoint 2016 to SharePoint Online migration project (575)

Our client is seeking a Senior Project Manager with public sector experience to lead SharePoint 2016 to SharePoint Online migration project (575).

This is primarily a remote role but will be required to be available for onsite meetings in Edmonton if required at consultant's own expense.

Successful candidates must meet both of the following experiences:

  1. Requirements:
  2. 8+ years of Project Management experience working on large complex SharePoint migration projects in an enterprise environment.
  3. Experience defining project scope and goals in collaboration with business stakeholders.
  4. Experience developing project deliverables including project charters, business cases, briefing notes, status reports, risk logs, and project closures.
  5. Experience managing multiple projects concurrently.

Other required experience:

  1. 5+ years' experience conducting, facilitating, and interpreting impact and risk assessments across multiple scenarios.
  2. 4+ years' experience creating and managing project forecasts in Microsoft Project.
  3. 5+ years' experience developing and maintaining positive relationships across the organization, including executive level.
  4. 3+ years of public sector experience.
  5. Experience in project coordination of government and vendor-wide information management/information technology initiatives.
  6. Experience working on Enterprise Content Management systems within government.
  7. 8 years' experience leading and facilitating meetings with stakeholders at all levels.
  8. 5+ years' experience leading change management and communication planning.
  9. 6+ years' experience leading custom software application development projects following a formal project life cycle methodology.

This role involves a large-scale migration project for SharePoint 2016 to SharePoint Online. Reporting to senior leaders, the candidate will need to understand the complexities of SharePoint and what can be involved when integrating them into the M365 suite.

Responsibilities:

  1. Compile project charters and business/project plans to support activities, including the most suitable approach to be used in the development of each applicable project, to ensure business objectives and data integrity are achieved.
  2. Manage project(s) that will document business requirements, design, and deliver IT solutions that are compliant with and contribute to the Ministries’ enterprise architecture.
  3. Assist with the development of recommendations including providing details of resource requirements, dependencies, interdependencies, policy implications pertaining to internal/external influences, and the methodology to be applied.
  4. Produce and package deliverables for presentation to various internal support teams, steering committee, and other project stakeholders.
  5. Manage multiple projects, project resources, and project governance.
  6. Work with project sponsors to ensure that effective project communication exists through the duration of the project including escalation of risks as required.
  7. Take responsibility for ongoing client satisfaction – manage peer-level client relationships and overcome hurdles to ensure win-win solutions.
  8. Collaborate with business and IT leadership to develop a well-defined project plan that clearly states the project’s objectives, scope, assumptions, timeline, resource requirements, risks, benefits, and budget.
  9. Work with project sponsors and the project management office to develop a project organization structure with clearly defined roles and responsibilities for all stakeholders.
  10. Document and report project status against established objectives, milestones, budget, and resources and facilitate tracking and closure of issues and risks.
  11. Develop project schedule plans and strategies, estimate resource requirements, develop and monitor work plans, and take corrective action for completion of project tasks.
  12. Provide guidance to project resources in establishing work priorities and prompt delivery of project tasks.
  13. Develop, as required, related requirements documentation.
  14. In collaboration with project sponsors, assess whether the project achieved stated outcomes and identify opportunities for improvement for future similar projects.
  15. Provide leadership and assistance to business and project teams that require change management and communication support.
  16. Work within the standards defined by the project management office and in the absence of standards work with the project management office to define new standards.
