Job summary

EQ Bank is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead a portfolio of strategic, high-complexity projects within the Technology Portfolio PMO. You will initiate, plan, execute, monitor, control and close projects in line with Enterprise Change Management and PMO standards, ensuring on-time delivery and value realization.

The role requires 6–10 years of multi-project leadership within regulated financial services, with strong communication skills and vendor management experience.

Qualifications

  • At least 6-10 years’ experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Post-secondary education in computer science, business, finance, or comparable discipline.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in the regulated financial services or Insurance industry.
  • Infrastructure and Information Security project delivery knowledge is highly desirable.
  • High proficiency in Project Management concepts (Waterfall, Iterative, Incremental and hybrid methodologies).
  • People management/leadership and mentoring experience is a major asset.
  • PMP certification is strongly preferred.
  • Agile, Scrum Master, Business Process Improvement, ITIL or Change Management certification is a major asset.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint, Jira, Confluence, MS Office tools, and related concepts/terminology.
  • Exposure to large and small corporate cultures is preferred.
  • Ability to take charge and work independently.
  • Strong time management, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with executives and project stakeholders.
  • Vendor management experience is a must.
  • Proven delivery track record in both business and technology projects, especially in digital.
  • Effective risk management & issue resolution and use of PMO standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a portfolio of projects with high strategic importance and complexity.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to provide leadership oversight and proactive guidance to project teams.
  • Coordinate cross-functional on-site, off-site and virtual project teams to overcome barriers.
  • Develop detailed plans to understand work, responsibilities, and dependencies.
  • Manage budgets and financial processes to secure funding and maintain cost discipline.
  • Engage stakeholders and govern forums for timely, transparent decision making.
  • Facilitate meetings, document RAID items, and follow up on actions and risks.
  • Conduct project evaluations and measure benefits against performance indicators.
  • Advise the PMO on methodology standards and practices in an evolving environment.

The Work

TheSeniorProject Managerreports directly to theDirector,Technology Project Delivery, .The role ofthe Sr.PM is toInitiate, Plan,Execute,Monitor,ControlandCloseprojectsin accordancewith EnterpriseChange Management as well as ProjectManagement methodology. This includesbaselinedscope, schedule,budgets,resource needsand other parametersset by the executive sponsor anddelegatethroughout the project life cycle.

This position is responsible for managinga portfolio ofprojects thatare strategic in importance, high complexity andmay beof along duration.Projects may includeprocess transformations, digitizing customer experiences, new product launches, platform upgrades and regulatory initiatives. The initial focus will be inInfrastructure and Cyber Security projectswithin the overall umbrella of the Technology Portfolio PMO.

The Core Responsibilities!
  • Manage multiple material projects of high to strategic: risk, length and complexity throughout the full project life cycle
  • Act as a Trusted Advisor that provides leadershipoversight and proactive advice on how best to steer project teams and deliver project goals while operating with full transparency as it pertains to issues and risks –whichincludes knowing when to communicate to the right people at the right time
  • Lead and support multi-functionalon-site, off-site and virtualproject teams to help them overcomebarriers and perform at their best, particularly through times of ambiguity and/orchanges
  • Lead detailedplanningat all levels to understand the work, responsibilities anddependencies to set the right expectations, ultimately enabling on-time delivery
  • Effectivelymanagefinancials/budgetand navigate financial processes toensure approval of funding anddisciplinedcost management
  • Engage stakeholders and manage governance forums to ensure timely,transparent &effective decision making
  • Facilitate meetings, document minutes and follow up on risks, action items, issues and decisions (RAID)
  • Complete project evaluations, velocity metrics and assessment of results to the key benefits and performance indicators
  • Advisor to the PMO in the creation, maintenance and enhancement of Project Management Methodology / Standards and Practices in an ever-evolving environment where applicable.

  • At least6-10 years’ experience managingmultiple projectssimultaneouslywith different priority levels through the entire life cycle
  • Post-secondary education (diploma/degree)preferably in computer science, business, finance,or comparablediscipline
  • At least 5 years’ experience in the regulated financial servicesor Insuranceindustry(including internal and external compliance requirements, financial reporting, and service administration)
  • Infrastructure and Information Securityproject delivery and deep understandingis highlydesirable
