We are seeking a Senior Project Manager, Social Development and Engagement, to join our Global Minerals & Metals (M&M) team and support our growth aligned with the demand for responsibly sourced critical minerals. As global demand rises, innovative solutions are more crucial than ever. Our team adopts a holistic approach to social-ecological systems, embedding resilience throughout the mining lifecycle—from anticipation to recovery. Our services cover all stages of mining, from exploration to closure, helping clients manage risks, understand impacts, and implement strategies to promote socio-economic development and social responsibility.

This role can be based in any major Canadian city: Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, or Kelowna.

Your role within the team :

  • Manage social impact assessments, community development, Indigenous engagement, social performance, land acquisition, involuntary resettlement, local procurement, human rights, and ESG due diligence projects in the minerals and metals industry, ensuring timely and quality deliverables.
  • Develop strategies to identify, address, and mitigate social and human rights risks, including cultural heritage and social development topics.
  • Lead the social development and engagement project team, setting clear objectives aligned with client requirements.
  • Support social permits and approvals through collaboration with stakeholders and Partner Nations.
  • Ensure social, community investment, and stakeholder engagement requirements are integrated into engineering and construction processes, and measure social responsibility value in business decisions.
  • Prepare reports aligned with international standards (UN Principles, IFC, ICMM, IRMA, SDGs, GRI, MAC-TSM, Copper Mark, RMI, etc.).
  • Promote business development activities, foster innovation, and participate in industry conferences.

The ideal candidate :

  • 10+ years of experience in social studies, stakeholder engagement, social investment, human rights, RAP Resettlement, livelihood restoration, and negotiation management, with a strategic understanding of global social performance standards relevant to mining. Experience in engineering consulting is a plus.
  • Master’s degree in Social Science, Engineering, Resource Economics, Sustainability, Development Studies, Geoscience, or related fields.
  • Strong writing skills; fluent in English; proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese is an asset.
  • Experience engaging with Indigenous Nations and integrating sustainability strategies across the mine lifecycle.
  • Relevant professional designation (e.g., P.Eng., P.Geo., P.Chem., P.Ag., R.P.Bio.) or eligibility in Canada; knowledge of relevant regulations in Canada and the US.

The expected salary range for this role in British Columbia is $116,600 - $160,300 annually, based on skills, experience, and impact.
