The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver complex transformational projects in alignment with our PMO methodology. You will lead large-scale projects from inception to completion, ensuring they meet business needs and expectations. Additionally, you will mentor project managers to enhance team capabilities and collaborate with PMO and leadership teams to improve project delivery processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead full-time project management activities for complex, large-scale transformational projects. Manage scope, cost, schedule, quality, and risk to deliver maximum value to stakeholders while minimizing costs and optimizing schedules.
  • Develop comprehensive business cases, project charters, and project plans, including financial and resource plans.
  • Work with, negotiate, and manage external vendors and stakeholder groups in project delivery. Monitor vendor performance and resolve discrepancies with the Vendor Management Office (VMO) as needed.
  • Build relationships with senior leaders, ensuring quality, risks, and issues are documented and communicated. Facilitate successful resolution of project concerns or issues, escalating as appropriate.
  • Manage dependencies across a complex technology and business process landscape, ensuring an integrated solution design approved by all stakeholder groups.
  • Lead and coordinate medium to large-scale project teams, supporting diverse internal/external resource groups across multiple departments.
  • Manage projects according to established TIS PMO standards, following both PMBOK Waterfall and Agile methods where appropriate.
  • Utilize proven organizational change management processes and tools to ensure seamless deployment and communication, avoiding disruption to critical systems.
  • Continuously evaluate internal processes for efficiency and propose improvements as required.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation.
  • 10+ years of progressive project management experience, depending on technical education, accreditations, and competency development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, well-developed problem-solving, decision-making, organization, planning, and leadership skills.
  • Collaborative, team and service-oriented work style, motivated self-starter, committed to continuous technical learning and personal development.
  • Ability to travel and manage projects throughout Canada and the United States.

Working Conditions

  • Office environment with occasional travel.
  • Fast-paced work environment requiring balancing multiple simultaneous projects with hard deadlines and numerous stakeholders.
  • Availability for off-hours contact to support critical issues.
