Role Overview:

As a Senior Project Manager within Professional Services, you will be spending 50% of your time driving consulting revenue and 50% of your time managing projects. You must have a great track record of identifying your external clients’ problems, offering solutions, and increasing revenue. You easily establish rapport, and your clients consider you to be a “trusted advisor”. The projects range in size from $30k-$500k, and you’ll be involved in about 4-6 projects concurrently.

Objectives:

  1. Build new and leverage existing client contacts to identify new business opportunities for our client.
  2. Provide Project Management for large-sized client projects and project teams, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery, and high-quality deliverables.
  3. Ensure all internal and external projects are accurately represented in Changepoint and other financial systems.
  4. Continuous improvement of our client’s solution delivery capabilities and sharing of related knowledge and best practices with the PM community.
  5. Assist in service estimation and solution sales processes.

Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for all aspects of assigned projects, including management of scope, budget, risk, resources, plan/timeline, internal communications, and external client communications.
  2. Determines staffing needs for projects, coordinating assignment of staff to projects.
  3. Encourages and fosters individual professional growth and teamwork among project staff.
  4. Works with pre-sales, Business Unit Manager, and Legal to prepare services contracts.
  5. Ensures all assigned projects comply with our client’s processes.
  6. Participates in or leads knowledge-sharing activities and contributes to the knowledge-base.
  7. May assist or shadow other Project Managers in large projects.
  8. Ensures internal and external client escalation procedures are followed for prompt problem resolution.
  9. Proactively maintains an understanding of our client’s solutions and architectures, including competitive analysis.
  10. Works with pre-sales to help qualify solution sales opportunities.
  11. Provides client presentations regarding our client’s methodologies and project management processes.
  12. Provides input into consulting group processes and procedures.
  13. Mentors other Project Managers as assigned.
  14. Participates in Project Management team review of PMO processes.
  15. Supervises internal product validation/development/quality assurance as relates to client solution implementation needs.
  16. Understands and leads new solution implementations working with stakeholders.
  17. Expands business development opportunities, working closely with Sales and Pre-Sales teams.
  18. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelors Degree, preferably in Business or Computer Science.
  2. PMP (PMI) is an asset.
  3. Knowledge of MS Word, Excel.
  4. Strong working knowledge of MS Project.
  5. Ability to conceptualize client needs and translate into specific implementation strategies.
  6. Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience managing multi-person applications development projects.
  7. At least 8 years of experience in data warehousing (DW) and business intelligence (BI).
  8. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and presentation skills.
  10. Ability to travel up to 10% of the time (mainly Ottawa, but may include Quebec and Eastern Canada).
  11. Bilingual (French and English) is an asset, but not mandatory.
