OUR OPPORTUNITY

The Govan Brown Calgary team is growing! We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Project Manager to join us. You will ensure client projects are executed on schedule, within budget, and at the highest quality standards.

Your Responsibilities Will Include
  • Manage projects to meet safety, quality, budget, schedule, and profitability goals.
  • Maintain communication with project teams, site managers, clients, trades, and stakeholders for effective coordination.
  • Monitor legal, contractual, and financial aspects, and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee tenders and negotiations, including subcontractor solicitations and contracting.
  • Create and report on project schedules, costs, margins, and forecasts; identify risks early.
  • Build and lead a project team, providing direction, coaching, and supervision.
  • Develop long-term client relationships, manage expectations, and identify repeat business opportunities.
  • Handle final inspections, permits, and occupancy notices.
  • Manage project accounting, billings, receivables, and client invoicing.
  • Lead project meetings and document lessons learned for continuous improvement.
  • Participate in business development to grow our market presence.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, market developments, and real estate activity.
What You Bring
  • Post-secondary education in engineering, construction management, architecture, or related fields; certifications like P.Eng., PMP, GSC, LEED are assets.
  • Over 7+ years of project management experience in core & shell, base building, or repositioning construction.
  • Experience with design-build, lump sum, and construction management contracts.
  • Proven leadership, mentorship, and team motivation skills.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Deep knowledge of construction methodology, processes, and sequencing.
  • Financial acumen and understanding of construction costs.
  • Knowledge of local and national construction markets, including labor and resource costs.
  • Ability to identify improvement opportunities and suggest constructive changes.
  • Risk recognition, prioritization, and mitigation skills.
  • Effective communication, negotiation, and dispute resolution abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software like CMIC and PlanGrid.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for project travel.
Working Conditions and Environment
  • Primary location: 215 9th Ave SW, Calgary (Penn West Tower), with local travel to project sites.
  • Exposure to construction environments in all seasons.
  • On-site and in-office work; this role is not remote or hybrid.
