As a Centrica Business Solutions (CBS) Senior Project Manager you will be accountable to deliver innovative and leading decarbonised energy solutions and enabling our vision to help customers live sustainably, simply, and affordably. You will do this by relentlessly supporting our colleagues, outperforming for our clients, and contributing to quality and profit.

As a Senior Project Manager in CBS Ireland you will be responsible for the safe and efficient execution of multi-technology activities for a range of internal, public and private sector clients. The role will involve the leadership and ownership of projects in flight and input towards opportunities in the bidding phase with a need for participation in our continual improvement process.

The Senior project manager must be able to manage end to end project delivery to cost and budget to ensure successful project delivery that promotes industry leading standards in both safety and construction.

You are a natural and trusted leader with a unique blend of leadership, risk management, business acumen and a solid technical understanding and energy experience. You have a broad knowledge of technical solutions across at least one of Solar, CHP or Integrated solutions.

Key accountabilities

• Health safety & environment: Actively drive a positive safety a culture of zero incidents for Centrica and our customers across all phases of the project

• Customers: Provide a high level of customer experience along the customer journey through direct customer interactions but also indirectly through delivery. Be a consistent senior customer contact

• Delivery accountability: Accountability for the financial performance of the project according to schedule

• Reporting: Take responsibility for upward reporting of project performance

• Project management: Lead end to end project management including:

  • Planning: Overall accountability for planning of projects and development of the capability of workforce to meet current and future needs to ensure optimum productivity is achieved

  • Project controls: Manage risk, document control, cost and action tracking working within the Stage gate process

• Matrix working: Collaborate with matrix support from other functions:

  • Sales: Support sales leads to ensure the projects are adequately scoped and projects are matured to FID with an acceptable financial and risk profile for Centrica while delivering value to our customers

  • Engineering: Support the engineering teams to ensure that projects meet customer needs and maximise overall life-time value for Centrica and our customers

  • O&M: Ensure successful handover of projects into the O&M phase for ongoing operations by the O&M team

Skills and experience required

• Project management: A highly experienced project manager able to operate independently to deliver overall business results

• Delivery track record: Proven track record of successfully delivering small and large projects for a variety of sectors. Significant experience with project management, project controls and project governance

• HSE: Experience managing HSE in an engineering and construction environment

• Technical: Multi-disciplined technical experience but at least one strength in either Solar, CHP or Integrated projects. Good understanding of the technology being installed to ensure it is safely and correctly installed

• Construction: Experience in the construction of large complex on site energy projects working with a mix of in-house and third-party labour

• Sector experience: Experience working with complex users of energy including solar, CHP or hospitals and large corporate facilities

• Relevant Project Management qualification/chartership including APM PMP or equivalent

• Degree in Engineering/Technical preferred but not essential

• Safety qualification such as IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH preferred but not essential

• Commercial: Strong commercial acumen both financially and contractually including a strong understanding of the financial drivers for customers and for CBS

• Extensive contractual experience with key industry contract types including MF1, PPAs, Energy Savings Agreements, Discount Energy Purchases and other industry standard contract types such as NEC and FIDIC Red/Silver book
