Job summary

Pearson Engineering Ltd. is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to oversee the production, design, and analysis of residential and industrial subdivisions, as well as municipal, institutional, and commercial works in Ottawa.

You will work directly with clients and design staff, prepare proposals, reports, technical specifications and contracts, and participate in project meetings while coordinating with team members and consultants.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Civil Engineering or similar field.
• Registration with PEO or OACETT (C.E.T.) is required.
• Knowledge of provincial and municipal codes and regulations.
• Strong communication and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and develop designs for grading, servicing plans, sanitary and SWM systems.
• Assists in the preparation of contractual documents for project proposals and project completion.
• Carry out quality assurance and quality control functions to ensure contractual obligations and regulations are being adhered to.
• Investigate and prepare technical analysis relating to SWM systems, site surveys, traffic control and signage and vehicular controls.
• Prepare reports relating to zoning by-laws and site plan applications.
• Work with senior contract administration and senior inspectors in a supportive manner.
• Assists with office work such as as-builts, drafting, report and drawing compiling, etc.

You will perform duties including, but not limited to, the preparation of proposals, reports, technical specifications, and contracts; participation in project meetings and coordinate with other team members and consultants.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and develop designs for grading, servicing plans, sanitary and SWM systems, etc.
• Assists in the preparation of contractual documents for project proposals and project completion.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• 8+ years experience in Civil Engineering field or similar role.
• Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
• Knowledge of Provincial/Municipal laws, codes, and regulations.
• Demonstrates an understanding of industry standards within construction, Health and Safety codes and regulations.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently collaborate in a team setting.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
• Demonstrate the ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree or college diploma in Civil Engineering or similar field.
• Registered with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) or OACETT Designation (C.E.T.).
