Title: Project Manager

Term: 6 Months - with possibility of extension

BACKGROUND

The client is a publicly funded English-language college and member of Polytechnics Canada, located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The college serves the National Capital Region and the outlying areas of Eastern Ontario, Western Quebec, and Upstate New York.

The Client Information Technology Services (ITS) department provides support services for approximately 65,000 students, faculty, administrative staff, and distance learning.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK / DELIVERABLES

The Sr. Project Manager will assist the Client ITS department by leading and implementing multiple initiatives. The consultant will work closely with IT leadership and relevant stakeholders to ensure effective planning, development, and implementation of these initiatives, delivering all assigned initiatives on time, within scope, and within budget, following the ITS PMO standards and best practices.

The Sr. PM will plan, monitor, and manage internal projects in collaboration with various teams involved. The responsibilities may include project planning, resourcing, staffing, vendor assessment, progress reporting, stakeholder management, communication in steering committees, and cost-benefit analysis/tracking.

REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field within Information Technology.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent project exposure.
  • 8 to 10 years of experience in project or program management, including 5+ years on large projects.
  • Experience with project, program, and portfolio management, business transformation, and process improvement on large, complex enterprise systems and products.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills working with various stakeholders.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in project management methodology, with the ability to identify and resolve issues, manage risk, develop detailed work plans and specifications, manage resource allocations, and facilitate productive team meetings.
  • Proven capacity to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and collaborate effectively with a Product Manager.
  • Detail-oriented with an unwavering focus on the big picture and delivering results.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, inspiring teamwork and motivating project teams.
  • Proven problem-solving skills to address complex issues through keen instincts and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage business stakeholders' expectations and understand business processes and requirements to ensure project scope, business, and technical requirements are clear and agreed upon by each stakeholder.
  • Vendor management experience and skills – ability to build relationships, conduct regular check-ins, and manage expected deliverables according to documented SOW.
