Working under limited supervision, this role plays a critical part in delivering large, complex, and strategic initiatives that support Wawanesa’s strategic priorities. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for managing cross-functional teams, third-party vendors, and internal stakeholders to deliver measurable outcomes and value.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of large-scale, strategic projects aligned with organizational and enterprise priorities.
- Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, and resources using approved methodologies and tools.
- Manage project decisions, risks, issues, dependencies, and change requests.
- Collaborate with leadership and stakeholders to ensure project alignment with capability roadmaps and value architecture.
- Support benefits realization by defining success metrics, tracking KPIs, and reporting on value creation.
- Prepare and present project updates, dashboards, and governance materials.
- Manage vendor relationships and contracts to ensure quality and accountability.
- Champion change management practices to support adoption and sustainability.
- Ensure consistent application of project management methodologies (e.g., PMI, Agile, SAFe) and tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint, MS Planner).
- Mentor junior Project Managers and contribute to the maturity of project delivery within the organization.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting to stakeholders and governance forums.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience managing large, complex projects in a matrixed environment.
- Post-secondary education or equivalent experience.
- PMP, PgMP, or similar certification required.
- Experience in financial management and budget oversight.
- Knowledge of various project management methodologies and tools.
- Understanding of IT principles (Architecture, Application Development, Quality Assurance, Service Delivery).
- Strong skills in project planning, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
- Proven leadership in cross-functional teams and stakeholder influence.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
- Industry experience in Insurance (Life, Wealth, Property & Casualty) is an asset.
- Change management certification (CCMP or PROSCI) is an asset.
