Job description

Position Overview

Our client, a 100% employee-owned consulting engineering firm, is looking to add an experienced and motivated Senior Project Manager to their Utility Management Sector. This individual will play a key leadership role in the delivery of water and wastewater system planning projects across Western Canada and Ontario.

This opportunity is ideal for a big-picture thinker with a strong background in hydraulic modeling and capital planning, proven project management expertise, and demonstrated success in business development. The successful candidate will manage high-value projects, lead proposal efforts, and support technical delivery while coordinating internal teams.

Further Responsibilities Include the Following

  • Act as the Project Management Lead for water and wastewater planning assignments.
  • Oversee and manage scopes, schedules, and budgets, ensuring alignment with quality management procedures.
  • Lead proposal development and business development initiatives in Western Canada and Ontario.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams and allocate internal resources.
  • Provide technical input and seal deliverables as required.
  • Mentor and supervise staff, supporting their professional growth.
  • Present technical material at industry conferences or events.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts and team-building initiatives.

Ideal Candidate Requirements

  • Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) license in Alberta and/or BC (or eligibility to obtain in Canada).
  • 10–15 years of relevant experience in water/wastewater system planning, hydraulic modeling, or capital infrastructure planning.
  • Minimum 5–10 years of project management experience, including overseeing projects valued at $200k or more.
  • Prior experience in a consulting engineering environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to liaise confidently with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to conduct occasional field work.
  • Motivated, collaborative, and capable of working in hybrid or multi-office teams.
