Position Summary

We currently have one clinical opportunity for Senior Project Leader - Planning & Readiness to join the Redevelopment Planning & Readiness team. This Senior Project Leader (SPL) will support the following primary focus program groupings across all redevelopment projects:

  • Medical Imaging, Nuclear Medicine, Lab Services, Pharmacy & Digital Services and temporary support for Surgical Services, commencing in summer 2025

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Executive Project Director - Service Planning & Operational Readiness, the Senior Project Leader will provide leadership, partnership, and expert navigation for their assigned focus program grouping through all phases of planning, operations readiness, move-in, post-occupancy transition & evaluation for WRHN Redevelopment projects. The Senior Project Leader will oversee all aspects of planning and readiness of their focus areas, and in collaboration with the operational and medical leadership teams be accountable for ensuring the programs are operationally prepared to deliver the future of care.

The Senior Project Leader will bring a broad understanding of care and service delivery (consistent with their assigned focus programs); program and service planning; process improvement and workflow standardization/design/optimization; health human resources and staffing models; enabling technologies and equipment; change management; clinical design and emerging trends in clinical space planning; data evaluation & visualization; patient experience best practice and co-design; and staff training design and delivery.

The Senior Project Leader should have good project management, documentation, report writing, and facilitation capabilities, as well as strong interpersonal skills with the ability to drive consensus and foster engagement in a complex environment.

The Leader will maintain a working knowledge of operational, legislative and Accreditation standards to ensure planning and design meets or exceeds requirements, and can be operationalized effectively, efficiently, and consistently. The Senior Project Leader will maintain a future-oriented perspective and innovation mindset, ensuring emerging trends, research and evidence are considered in all project activities.

Position Requirements

  • Regulated health professional (e.g. RN, RPN, OT, PT, etc.) preferred (for clinical program focus)
  • A minimum of 7 years in a leadership position in the healthcare environment, preferably in a hospital setting at the program manager/senior manager/director level
  • A minimum of 10 years in healthcare
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in leading strategic, clinical planning or operations planning within a hospital in one or more of the programs within the assigned program focus grouping
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct all duties and responsibilities in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values of Grand River Hospital and St. Mary’s General Hospital
  • Demonstrated experience in managing operational functions in large complex organizations including program planning, care and service delivery design, implementation, and evaluation
  • Broad knowledge of and demonstrated experience with large-scale change management, including dealing with resistance to change
  • Experience leading professional staff, including coaching, fostering consensus decision-making, and creating collaborative, productive team-based work environment for change initiatives to achieve quality patient care
  • Demonstrated knowledge of performance measurement, quality improvement and risk management
  • Excellent consultation, facilitation, negotiation, problem solving, consensus building/team building and collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated ability to take complex ideas and translate them for teams to drive action, accountability, and consensus
  • Demonstrated experience with budget planning, reporting, data interpretation and analysis, and systems management
  • Experience in healthcare capital and previous involvement working with a team in the planning and operationalization of a large-scale new or renovated healthcare facility is preferred
  • Effective project management skills, including development of work plans, documentation, project charters, etc.
  • An ability to take a system view and understand the complexity and interdependent nature of patient care processes
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, Accreditation standards, CSA Standards, and other applicable regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, manage change and thrive in a complex, dynamic environment is essential.
