The Senior Project Finance Specialist is responsible for complex financial analysis and services for major infrastructure projects, providing sole financial analytical support to the Roberts Bank Terminal 2 (RBT2) program. Ensures a comprehensive financial model, clearly articulating risks and opportunities while collaborating across the RBT2 team.
What you do :
- Develop, maintain, update, and improve upon the project financial models with financial consultants to support VFPA’s procurement, investment, and project financing decisions with respect to the RBT2 project. Ensure models withstand due diligence by potential investors and funders. Develop additional scenarios to understand potential impacts of changes to assumptions, including alternative approaches and value engineering.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining the financial model for RBT2 to present an integrated business case, utilizing inputs from a large, multi-disciplinary team. Drive resolution for any assumptions that are inconsistent. Prepare and lead presentations to senior VFPA leadership and external investors on the financial model, risks, and opportunities.
- Ensure assumptions in the financial model are meticulously documented, reviewed, and updated to reflect the latest data. Clearly articulate the basis for scenarios and ensure consistency across inputs.
- Drive the review and approval process for changes to assumptions in the financial model. Assess impacts, risks, and opportunities, working with the team to incorporate approved changes promptly.
- Evaluate reports, data, and models on project capacity, operations, and performance, providing insights and refining business case inputs and outputs.
- Review cost control and financial models to ensure alignment with project objectives and capital affordability. Collaborate with VFPA’s Treasury and Financial Planning & Analysis teams to update models for various scenarios, supporting decision-making at the executive level.
- Work with VFPA’s financial advisor to develop and implement strategies to secure funding, including preparing responses to due diligence questions from investors.
- Collaborate with the procurement team to develop procurement strategies considering financial implications, risks, and opportunities.
- Assess, analyze, and communicate risks, opportunities, and financial impacts for complex, multi-billion-dollar projects.
What you bring :
- A Bachelor of Commerce or Business Administration degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
- A Chartered Professional Accountant, Chartered Financial Analyst, Certified Project Finance Analyst, or similar designation.
- At least five (5) years of experience in financial analysis and business case assessment for infrastructure projects valued at $100M+; experience with large-scale, multi-phase projects in complex regulatory environments is preferred.
- Proficiency in computer skills, especially spreadsheets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with staff, senior management, and external partners.
- Strong analytical skills and tactful, diplomatic interaction abilities.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy, curiosity, and ability to identify and drive changes.
- Critical thinking skills to consider implications of assumptions and ensure comprehensive financial models. Motivated, proactive, customer-service oriented, and committed to continuous improvement.

MARINE TRANSPORTATION SECURITY CLEARANCE
