Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to provide technical leadership for the Conventional Island scope of a major power program. You will design, integrate, procure, install, and commission turbine-generator systems and major rotating equipment to deliver safe, reliable, high-performing plant designs.

You will coordinate with engineering teams, suppliers, OEMs and construction to ensure successful project delivery, while managing risks, performance testing, and commissioning

Qualifications

  • Minimum 15+ years of engineering experience.
  • Proven leadership in turbine-generator and rotating equipment projects.
  • Experience with major EPC projects and power generation facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering strategy and equipment selection for turbine-generator systems and major rotating equipment.
  • Provide technical oversight for steam turbines, generators, and associated auxiliaries.
  • Support heat balance development, equipment sizing, performance analysis, and efficiency improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate interfaces across mechanical, electrical, I&C, civil/structural, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams.
  • Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies for cost, schedule, reliability, and performance objectives.

Job description

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Project Engineer, Rotating Equipment & Turbine Generator Systems, to provide technical leadership for the Conventional Island scope of the Monark-D Program. This role is responsible for the design, integration, procurement, installation, commissioning, and performance optimization of turbine-generator systems and major rotating equipment. The successful candidate will act as the primary technical interface between engineering teams, suppliers, OEMs, utility stakeholders, procurement, construction, and commissioning organizations to ensure delivery of a safe, reliable, and high-performing plant design.

Your Role
  • Lead the engineering strategy, technical requirements, and equipment selection for turbine-generator systems and major rotating equipment.
  • Provide technical oversight for steam turbines, generators, excitation systems, rotating equipment, pumps, compressors, fans, blowers, and associated auxiliaries.
  • Support plant heat balance development, equipment sizing, performance analysis, and efficiency improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison with OEMs, suppliers, consultants, and engineering partners.
  • Lead technical evaluations, supplier reviews, bid assessments, and procurement activities.
  • Coordinate interfaces across mechanical, electrical, I&C, civil/structural, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams.
  • Support constructability reviews, installation planning, commissioning programs, startup activities, and performance testing.
  • Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies to support project cost, schedule, reliability, and performance objectives.
About You
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.
  • 15+ years of engineering experience.
  • 10+ years of direct experience with turbine-generator systems and/or major rotating equipment.
  • Experience with large utility-scale steam turbines and power generation facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of rotating equipment reliability, heat balance analysis, performance testing, and commissioning.
  • PMP certification an asset
  • Experience in nuclear, thermal, or combined-cycle power generation projects.
  • Direct experience working with turbine OEMs and major equipment suppliers.
  • Experience supporting major EPC projects, Darlington Refurbishment, Darlington New Nuclear, Bruce Power, or CANDU fleet engineering.
