Job summary

McElhanney Ltd. invites applications for a Senior Project Engineer focused on Energy & Resources. Based in Prince George, BC, you will lead multidisciplinary mining and heavy industrial projects across Western Canada, delivering technical and commercial excellence while mentoring junior staff.

You will cultivate client relationships, manage budgets and schedules, and contribute to business development and field operations, with relocation support available for eligible candidates.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mining, civil, geological, or mechanical engineering.
  • PEng or PGeodesignation with EGBC preferred.
  • Typically 10+ years of progressive mining, industrial, or resource-sector experience.
  • Experience managing budgets, schedules, contracts, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong knowledge of mining and heavy industrial project delivery, construction, and operations.
  • Proven ability to develop client relationships and contribute to business development.
  • Experience mentoring junior staff and supporting team development.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites and support remote/rotational assignments.

The Opportunity

McElhanney is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support and lead energy and resource sector projects across British Columbia and the Yukon Territory. Based in Prince George, this role combines technical engineering expertise, project management, client relationship management, business development, and construction support for active and developing mining projects throughout Western Canada.

The successful candidate will assume responsibility for the technical and commercial delivery of multidisciplinary projects, while providing leadership and mentorship to junior engineering staff. This position is suited for an experienced professional who is establishing themselves as a technical resource within the mining sector and is capable of independently managing projects and client relationships.

McElhanney's growing mining team includes expertise in Mining, Civil, Geotechnical, and Electrical Engineering, supported by trusted external partners. The role provides opportunities to work across underground and open‑pit mining projects, from feasibility and design through construction and operational support.

Prince George, BC is the preferred location. We also welcome candidates willing to relocate to Prince George and provide relocation assistance for eligible candidates.

What You’ll Do

What Can We Offer You?

The salary range for this position is $104,000 to $156,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
