Job summary

Morson Edge is recruiting a Senior Project Engineer to lead complex defence-related naval systems projects in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The role requires strong systems engineering, technical leadership, and hands-on delivery across the full project lifecycle.

You will work with Program Managers, engineering teams and external stakeholders, ensuring adherence to standards and schedules while mentoring the team and driving improvements within a high-security environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, CS or related discipline.
• 6+ years of engineering experience, including 3+ years in a technical leadership role.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering complex technical systems.
• Knowledge of systems engineering and sonar technologies.
• Experience in defence industry project lifecycles.
• Proven problem-solving, PM and stakeholder communication skills.
• EVMS, CAM and MS Project experience are assets.
• P.Eng. designation preferred; PMP considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage engineering activities across full project lifecycle to deliver technical requirements.
• Oversee multidisciplinary teams, work packages, schedules and milestones.
• Act as technical lead, liaising with Program Managers, customers and external stakeholders.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks, manage resources, budgets and schedules.
• Lead design reviews, technical discussions and progress meetings.
• Develop and oversee integration, verification and validation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with engineering, safety, quality and defence standards.
• Manage technical documentation and project deliverables.
• Mentor engineers and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage engineering activities throughout the full project lifecycle, ensuring successful delivery of technical requirements.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• 6+ years of engineering experience, including 3+ years in a technical leadership role.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and delivering complex technical systems.
• Strong knowledge of systems engineering and sonar technologies.
• Experience managing engineering projects throughout the full lifecycle within the defence industry.
• Strong technical problem-solving, project management, and stakeholder communication skills.
• Experience with Earned Value Management (EVMS), Control Account Management (CAM), and Microsoft Project is an asset.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation preferred.
• PMP certification considered an asset.

Security Requirements

Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain NATO Secret security clearance and meet Canadian Controlled Goods Program requirements.
