Job description

Our client, an Energy company, is seeking a Senior Project Engineer in Calgary with some travel (~1 week/month) to site and fabricator shops. The ideal candidate has over 15 years of experience in the Energy sector.

Accountability

• Ensure the quality of engineering outcomes for assigned scope(s):
• Meet functional requirements
• Comply with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
• Ensure safety in operation and maintenance
• Ensure engineering deliverables meet project schedule, cost, quality, and fabrication/site construction needs

Responsibilities

• Distribute RFPs to internal stakeholders for awareness
• Engage with the Project Quality Lead for RFP development, technical reviews, and inform when scopes are awarded for inspection requirements, including pre-award Shop Quality Audits
• Oversee design activities to ensure they meet cost, schedule, and quality requirements
• Review and approve/accept engineering deliverables, documents, procedures, templates, and contract schedules used in project execution
• Contribute to the development of Stage Gate Packages for owner and partner approval
• Review and provide input on the Development Baseline Model (DBM), Project Execution Plan (PEP), and Construction Execution Plan (CEP)
• Review regulatory applications and ensure compliance with permit commitments
• Oversee and contribute to all project cost estimates and schedules
• Support cost-saving initiatives through alternative design solutions and execution strategies
• Lead technical development for engineering services, equipment, and material scopes for bid packages
• Evaluate bids for equipment, services, and materials
• Coordinate EWP processes with EPCs to meet scope and schedule requirements
• Manage design changes to minimize cost overruns, ensuring safety, compliance, maintainability, and operability
• Engage stakeholders internally and externally to facilitate project progress
• Support project progress monitoring, risk mitigation, and lessons learned implementation
• Oversee the Ready for Operations Master Punch List to ensure deficiencies are addressed
• Support commissioning and startup activities to resolve technical issues
• Coordinate across all project areas and support project close-out
• Identify opportunities for engineering practice improvements based on industry trends and research
