Job description

Description : Thompson Builders Inc. is currently seeking a charismatic and experienced individual to join our team as a Senior Project Coordinator. Reporting to the General Manager but working on a daily basis with our Project Managers, the Project Coordinator is a team-builder with a broad spectrum of talent. This individual would have the drive to progress in their career and be eager to take on additional responsibilities within our Builders Group.

Responsibilities :

Office
  • Participate in the coordination of projects by assisting in the preparation of budgets and regular cost projection reviews.
  • Set up and manage project administration files efficiently.
  • Assist Project Managers in expediting project work via negotiated Subcontracts and Purchase Orders.
  • Correspond with Owners, Architects, Engineers, sub-trades, and suppliers as directed by the Project Manager and Superintendent.
  • Prepare payment requisitions and manage change orders between Thompson and the Client under the guidance of the Project Manager.
  • Support Project Managers with document control, including distribution of drawings & specifications, and preparation of Operation + Maintenance manuals.
  • Help in preparing and updating the project construction schedule.
  • Assist in managing the submittals and approvals process.
  • Coordinate site superintendents and labor requirements.
  • Assist in sub-contract administration.
  • Track deliveries of equipment and critical materials as directed.
  • Communicate with suppliers and negotiate purchases effectively.
  • Support in preparing estimates and tenders, learning Thompson's estimating system.
Site
  • Maintain daily job logs.
  • Take photographs and develop weekly progress reports.
  • Assist the Superintendent with daily site management.
  • Manage site purchases, rentals, equipment, and track materials.
  • Maintain and develop as-built drawings.
  • Attend project site and sub-trade meetings, assisting in expediting project completion and addressing deficiencies.
Project Support
  • Provide estimating support for change orders and project variations.
  • Assist Project Managers with cost inquiries during project execution.
  • Support operations through project coordination if estimates are not needed.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new construction methods, and estimating technologies.
  • Contribute to improving estimating processes and procedures.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Experience with Light Industrial, Commercial, or vertical civil construction projects valued between $2-40 million.
  • Proficiency in ACC or related software.
  • University Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology Diploma, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years in the construction industry.
  • Knowledge of ICI and Multi-Family Building Construction.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and project management software; Autodesk Construction Cloud knowledge is an asset.
  • Desire to learn and grow, with willingness to acquire new software skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
