Overview

Forbes Bros Ltd. is seeking an experienced Senior Project Advisor (part-time, permanent) to join support our Major Projects portfolio. This is a remote position that will require occasional travel and work at various sites/locations across Canada and/or the USA.

The Senior Project Advisor will develop and provide a professional level of project management expertise, both practical and technical, inclusive of critical thinking related to project development, execution planning, cost estimation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level technical support and guidance to project team members or project delivery managers to effectively execute on project delivery
  • Demonstrate sound understanding of the powerline construction industry as a whole and able to develop and communicate mitigation strategies related to industry related construction execution risks
  • Guide Project Managers towards the completion of projects using construction and project management principles
  • Support estimating activities with respect to project execution planning and estimate development
  • Support Project Managers in coordinating the work of all consultants and sub-contractors, ensuring the timely delivery of expected outputs, and ensuring an effective synergy among the various sub-contracted activities
  • Advise the Project Manager (PM) and others about project risks and issues that may impact client relations
  • Support Engineering-Procure-Construct delivery with development and support in monitoring the overall project cycle
  • Support the development of Field Review Reports, change notices, RFI's, site instructions, and clarification as needed
  • Monitor the project for general compliance with contract documents including advising on any required reporting by the Project Manager
  • Communicate ideas for improving company processes and lead the development and implementation of new project management practices and processes
  • Provide guidance to ensure project Health & Safety & Environmental Standards are being met
  • Coaching and mentoring new project management staff
What We Are Looking For
  • Minimum of ten (10) + years' related work experience in Powerline, Civil or Industrial Project Management construction, is required. A combination of education and years of experience pertaining to Construction Management will be considered
  • PMP or CAPM designation, an asset
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Site, especially MS Excel
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contract management processes; project set up; subcontract management; change orders; RFIs; closeout
  • Demonstrated skills in written and verbal communication, coordinating resources as well as the ability to analyze data and solve problems
  • Capability of providing direction to project staff and supporting Project Managers in overall project team management
  • A friendly professional demeanor and ability to excel in a team-oriented environment
  • Strong ability to coach and mentor
  • Self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision
  • Able and willing to work in a dynamic environment
  • Able and willing to provide an acceptable five (5) year Driver\'s Abstract
