About the Company

Our client is a well-established and growing Real Estate and Construction Development firm based in the Greater Toronto Area. With a strong portfolio of high-rise residential condominium projects, they are known for delivering sophisticated urban living spaces across the GTA. As they continue to scale their development pipeline, they are seeking a Senior Project Accountant to join their collaborative and high-performing finance team.

Position Overview

The Senior Project Accountant will play a key role in managing the full-cycle project accounting for a portfolio of high-rise residential developments. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with relevant real estate industry experience who is looking to work on landmark developments from inception through to closing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle project accounting for multiple real estate development projects
  • Prepare monthly project reports, including cost reports and variance analysis
  • Handle the preparation and submission of monthly construction draws from start to finish, working closely with lenders and project managers
  • Oversee closing processes for new developments, including reconciliation of closing statements and coordination with legal and sales teams
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for project budgets, commitments, and expenditures
  • Collaborate with internal departments (development, construction, and finance) to ensure project timelines and financial goals are met
  • Assist with year-end audits and provide necessary documentation to auditors
  • Support the Finance Manager/Controller in ad hoc financial analysis and reporting

Qualifications

  • CPA designation or actively pursuing CPA designation (final stages preferred)
  • Minimum 3-5 years of project accounting experience in the real estate development or construction industry
  • Strong knowledge of draw preparation and closing processes within high-rise residential development
  • Proficient with project accounting systems (e.g., Newstar, Yardi, Jonas, or similar software)
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Team-oriented mindset with strong communication and interpersonal skills
