Job summary

Sandgate Women’s Shelter of York Region Inc. is seeking a Programs Manager to lead shelter programs, supervise staff, and ensure safe, effective service delivery at the Jackson’s Point and Richmond Hill sites.

The role requires progressive management experience in social services, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and strong governance in line with policies and funding requirements. Onsite work, some evenings/weekends, and an annual salary of approximately CAD 87,360–95,680 are provided.

Qualifications

• Understanding of gender-based violence and its impact on women and children.
• Progressive experience in social services management is required.
• Ability to supervise unionized staff and manage program teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise shelter program personnel with regular supervisory meetings and performance appraisals.
• Coordinate training, staff development, and team-building activities.
• Ensure health, safety, and organizational policies are followed by staff.
• Provide advanced case guidance to staff supporting women and children with complex needs.
• Develop program evaluation systems and annual training plans for frontline staff.
• Maintain accurate program records and reporting to the Executive Director.
