Qualifications

BGC Okanagan is hiring a temporary Senior Program Leader for our Glenrosa Club After School Program. In this leadership role, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the assigned program while supervising, mentoring, and supporting both staff and children. This temporary position provides maternity leave coverage for up to one year, or until the incumbent returns.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of an assigned program. Develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate plans and programs designed to ensure that the needs of children, youth, and families are met.
  • Will be the Licensed Manager as per Licensing Regulations to ensure all activities adhere to Child Care Licensing Regulations.
  • Supervise, mentor, guide and lead activity leaders, if there are multiple staff within the program.
  • Provides day-to-day direction, performance feedback, as well as participates in discipline of staff and volunteers within the program. Addresses staff workplace issues and assists in resolving workplace disputes.
  • Create program activity calendar to be distributed to members and families.
  • Provides group and/or individual behaviour management and support.
  • Participate in the recruitment of program staff and volunteers, including conducting interviews, selection, hiring, orientation, training and discipline up to termination in accordance with agency policy.
  • Ensures that accurate program and member records are maintained and that confidentiality is a priority.
Qualifications
  • A diploma, certificate, or completion of at least 20 hours of coursework in areas such as child development, guidance, health and safety, or nutrition (required for licensed programs)
  • One (1) year of recent, related experience working with children or youth in recreation, education, or social services
  • Valid First Aid and Food Safe Certificates
  • Class 4 Driver’s Licence or willingness to obtain
  • Be at least 19 years of age as per Licensing Regulations
  • Successful completion of Agency screening including a Criminal Record Check

Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 11:00am-6:00pm

Rate of Pay: $23.28 per hour
