The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Senior Archaeologist/Project Manager to join WSP Environment and Infrastructure (E&I) Canada Limited, based in any Ontario office (e.g., Burlington, Toronto, Richmond Hill, Mississauga, Hamilton, London, Ottawa, Thunder Bay).

A Day in the Life:

As a Senior Archaeologist/Project Manager, you will:

  • Manage archaeological assessments in compliance with the Ontario Heritage Act and MCM regulations.
  • Research, prepare, and submit proposals and reports for archaeological projects.
  • Oversee project scope, budgets, schedules, and quality, while leading client and stakeholder communication.
  • Promote health and safety within your projects and teams.
  • Review technical reports to meet MCM and WSP standards.
  • Coordinate resources and logistics with the Field Operations Lead.
  • Mentor staff and support business development.
  • Engage with clients, government officials, and Indigenous Nations.
  • Analyze artifacts and interpret data.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed to conduct archaeological fieldwork in Ontario (MCM).
  • Master’s Degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field.
  • 10+ years of consulting archaeology experience in Ontario (Stages 1–4).
  • Deep knowledge of Ontario archaeology, standards, and guidelines.
  • Ability to deliver quality work independently in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain Provincial and Federal Security Clearances.
  • Valid Canadian driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in Ontario historical periods and Indigenous material culture.
  • Membership with the Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals (CAHP).
  • Experience managing archaeological resources on federal properties.
