We are currently searching for an experienced Senior Production Supervisor for our Global manufacturing client located in London, Ontario. Reporting to the Production Manager you are a key member of the management team with full responsibiliy for supervision of a team of up to 50 employees.

You will be accountable for safety on the production line, maximizing production effectiveness by establishing and maintaining standard work, attaining company KPI's (Key Performance Indicators), and developing continuous improvement methods.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Manages, mentors, and provides developmental opportunities and job assignments to enhance employee performance and expand capabilities of the team
  • Define & implement short, medium, and long-term actions to improve safety, operating efficiency, quality, and productivity throughout the entire value chain
  • Achieve key performance indicators and drive the necessary improvement for on-time delivery, productivity, project management, quality, safety, and other key process areas
  • Manage the department’s materials, machinery, and labour to meet run rate targets
  • Actively seek opportunities to improve processes and create sustainable success goals
  • Effectively translate plant goals & objectives to all levels of the organization ensuring alignment on relevant performance data
  • Recognize potential problems and initiate measures to eliminate or reduce their impact
  • Promote & enable professional and technical development of staff
  • Assess job performance and provide open feedback
  • Leverage continuous improvement tools to eliminate loss, optimize processes, and improve reliability
  • Meet performance standards related to Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) and provide a safe work environment for employees within the department
  • Work with the H&S team to develop / identify hazards and prevent incidents
  • Manage KPI’s; Health and Safety, Quality, Waste Rate and Run Rates
  • Ensure safety is communicated throughout the production process
  • Ensure quality output is achieved reducing the number of customer complaints
  • Continuously improve preventative maintenance schedules on industrial equipment
  • Reduce production disposal costs related to preventable production errors
  • Meet and exceed waste reduction targets
  • Support the Production Manager as needed

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Post Secondary Degree and strong leadership experience
  • Mechanical Engineer diploma would be considered an asset
  • 7 years of supervisory experience working with SAP or similar systems
  • Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment would be considered an asset
  • Intimate knowledge in OH&S systems
  • Excellent leadership, change management, organization and problem solving skills
  • Sound judgement and ability to make difficult and time sensitive decisions
  • Excellent conflict resolutions skills, diplomacy and tact
  • Ability to work according to tight schedules and timelines, managing process flow
  • Function well independently and in a team environment
  • Strong written verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work rotating shifts - typically 2 weeks days and 2 weeks afternoons
