About University Business Services

University Business Services (UBS) supports the university's mission by providing revenue-generating services to students, staff, faculty, and guests. UBS includes units such as Campus Store, Duplicating and Printing Services, Parking Services, OneCard Office, Food Services, Events and Space Reservation, and the Urban Farm.

The Opportunity

The Senior Cook will prepare menu items for the Retail kitchen, Catering, and Student Residence, following the guidance of the Chef.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Operating kitchen equipment safely
  • Following recipes and brand standards
  • Maintaining clean and organized workstations
  • Adhering to food handling and safety regulations and ensuring kitchen sanitation
  • Collaborating with team members
  • Providing feedback on menu items and assisting in menu development

Qualifications

  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent
  • At least three years of experience in a full-service kitchen, including preparing large quantities of food for cafeteria and catering services
  • Knowledge of food service procedures, preparation, and production
  • Understanding of WHMIS and Food Safety standards
  • Toronto Public Health Food Handlers or Recognized Serve Safe Certification is an asset
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Reliable attendance record
  • Comfort working in environments with heat, fumes, odors, noise, and potential minor injuries, following safety procedures
