Job description

Upshop is the foremost provider of a SaaS platform designed to streamline forecasting, ordering, production, and inventory optimization processes for food retailers. Its unified platform simplifies and enhances associate tasks, promoting smarter and more interconnected operations across Fresh, Center, DSD, and eCommerce departments. With over 450+ retailers and 50,000+ stores relying on its mission-critical operations platform globally, customers have witnessed substantial enhancements in sales, shrinkage reduction, food safety, and sustainability throughout their stores.

Overview of the role :

In the most compelling stories ever told, the hero's journey is not about the destination, but the transformation along the way. At Upshop, we believe the product roadmap is that journey—and product marketing is the art of telling that story.

As the Senior Product Marketing Manager , you'll be the alchemist who transforms complex technology into emotional connection. This role demands the rare talent who can seamlessly blend analytical thinking with creative storytelling, someone who brings both their left and right brain to work every day. The true power of product marketing lies in taking our incredibly powerful technology and breathing life into it in ways that resonate deeply with our audience, making them feel something beyond the features and functions.

But here's where the challenge—and opportunity—becomes even more fascinating : Upshop is a platform. And platform storytelling is notoriously difficult. Few companies do it well, which is precisely why we need you. When platform stories are told effectively, customers understand that they're not just buying a product—they're making an investment with potentially limitless returns as they scale. They grasp that a platform isn't merely a solution for today's problems, but a foundation for tomorrow's possibilities.

This role demands a storyteller who can see beyond features to envision ecosystems, someone who can articulate not just what makes our platform different, but why that difference represents transformational value for the businesses we serve. You'll craft narratives that help prospects understand that choosing Upshop isn't just a purchase decision—it's a strategic investment in their future.

Responsibilities :

  • Translate product roadmap into product / solution suite positioning and launch / communication plans
  • Embed product marketing into the product function, working with the product team from early concepting to launch to ensure the strongest story / positioning
  • Continue to innovate how positioning is activated, moving from product stories (long form) to digital tours and beyond
  • Build out a team and toolkit capable of supporting global messaging and local market nuances
  • Spearhead competitive intelligence strategy and projects that help us acquire customers and land competitive deals
  • Define a plan to bring to life the connected platform story, and its expansive benefits / value for customers.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with solutions consulting, demand generation and GTM teams to articulate and deliver the positioning effectively
  • Create effective product launch moments that bring value to life with both net new opportunities and cross-sell.
  • Support and drive pricing & packaging strategy.
  • Partner with product on release processes (alpha / beta).
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing product marketing team, fostering a culture of growth, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Drive go-to-market strategies and campaigns with a focus on measurable outcomes, including customer acquisition, engagement, and revenue growth.

Qualifications :

  • Proven ability to refine and articulate Ideal Customer Profiles (ICP) across grocery, convenience, and PET industry segments.
  • Expertise in applying the Jobs to Be Done (JTBD) framework to define and execute strategies for key personas influencing buying decisions.
  • Experience collaborating with modern product teams to drive impactful product launches that create visual resonance with the ICP, accelerating pipeline growth and generating new opportunities.
  • Strong sales enablement skills, equipping teams with compelling positioning, messaging, one-pagers, technical deep dives, and ROI narratives.
  • Skilled in orchestrating GTM execution for major launches throughout the year.
  • Adept at building positioning narratives that crystallize Upshop’s platform capabilities to maintain top-of-mind awareness and visibility with key accounts.
  • Deep expertise in competitive intelligence, analyzing market trends, differentiators, and white space opportunities to strengthen positioning.
  • Skilled in developing battlecards that equip sales teams with clear, actionable insights to counter competitor claims and win deals.
  • Experience crafting feature comparisons that highlight unique value propositions, helping prospects and customers make informed decisions.
  • Experience using PLG tools such as Walnut.io, Chameleon, Pendo, etc.
  • Experience managing people
  • Proven experience creating and managing content across various formats, including web copy, email, long-form, and video.
